A Fable Protocol: How to Brief AI Like a Capable Teammate

A living draft. June 12, 2026.

Fable has been out for three days, so this guide is a guess, an educated one, but still a guess. I have been working with AI systems long enough to know that the first week of a new model is mostly projection: you bring your habits, your old prompts, and your accumulated intuitions, then you see what holds and what needs to be unlearned.

I wrote A Fable Protocol to distill what seems durable: not tricks, not workarounds, but the underlying logic of clear delegation. Better AI work is not really about clever prompts; it is about defining success, giving the right context, setting boundaries, requiring evidence, and reviewing the result honestly.

How it fits

8 is the instrument panel. A Fable Protocol is the flight procedure.

8 shows what kind of thinking is happening, where the conversation is overbalanced or under-tested, and whether agreement is outrunning evidence; the Protocol turns that awareness into a practical way to brief AI so the work is more complete, inspectable, and trustworthy.

If Fable surprises me, and it probably will, I will revise. Consider this a living draft from someone paying close attention.
