What this volume does
The first book taught a way of reading fear, and it practiced on invented specimens: a taped bottle, a photograph, a family story, a sentence at two in the morning. This volume takes those same specimens, carries each one unaltered to the Warning Exchange, and sets the instrument's answer beside it.
The specimen is invented text. The return is a record: what the instrument actually said, on a stated day, kept entire and unretouched. The reading between them is yours.
Eight stations, one for each way of knowing, and two of them marked as the reader's alone, because a body's alarm and a family's story are not things any instrument can read for you. Where the record is empty, the volume says so and composes nothing to fill it. Where the instrument and the book disagree, both readings stand.
What it is not
It is not a manual and it offers no detector. It teaches no one to sort true warnings from false ones by rule. It is a record of one instrument, on named days, meeting specimens it had never seen, and of what a reader can learn by watching that happen.
The edition
This is a documentary first edition. It adds no commentary layer. A later edition may.
Corrections and revisions to this edition are free and arrive with the first book's own corrections. When the research changes enough to make a new edition, that is a new purchase.
